The main usage of the 3D scanner is Reverse Engineering (RE), RE is today consolidated methodology integrated in the design process for reconstructing surface from physical prototypes.
RE process basically includes two steps:
3DSS Series 3D Scanner
3DSS (Three Dimensional Sensing Systems) is a non-contact, non-laser 3D scanner. The 3DSS is based on a comprehensive active sensing techniques which composed of Stereo vision, triangulation principle, structures light and phase shift method.
Diferrent fringe patterns are projected onto the object of measurement and are obderved with two cameras. By special calibration program, the optical transformation equations are know, so the 3d-coordinates for each of the camera pixels can be determined automatically and with high precision.
