In 1980's
IME (Industrial Maintenance Engineering) was incorporated in 1980 as a service and repair centre for conventional milling and lathe machines. Our customers range from small and medium-sized company to multinational corporations; Sekolah Menengah to vocational schools, Polytechnics and Universities, throughout the country. In early 80's, CNC machines were introduced into Malaysia. Few years later some CNC machines start to experience breakdowns; IME foresees the needs and demand and began to venture into repairs of CNC machines. By 1988, IME had explored CNC retrofits on conventional machines and successfully converted a conventional milling machines into full CNC machines.
In 1990's
Retrofit CNC milling machines brought in new challenge to IME, as all customers were facing problem in 3D programming. This has driven IME to step into CAD/CAM/CAE. At that moment most CAD/CAM systems are running on UNIX, which is out of reach to SMIs. Realising our customers' needs and problems in 3D programming, and demand from the local SMIs on computerized design and manufacturing solutions, IME began to introduce affordable and effective PC-based CAD/CAM/CAE solutions to the local industries. The success of Windows95 and Windows NT had brought a revolution era in information technology and computing world. All engineering software development has migrated to and focused on Windows Platform due to its high performance and cost-effectiveness. The development of high performance Pentiums and Centrinos, has narrowed down the gap between high cost engineering workstation and desktop computers, in term of capabilities, functionality, efficiency and speed particularly in engineering applications. Since then, IME has set to provide cost-effective, best-in-class solutions in CAD/CAM, CAE all running on Desktop Computers.
In 2000's
Today, IME has emerged as the leading CAD/CAM, CAE solutions provider in the country. IME has successfully implemented CAD/CAM, CAE systems at many local industries, from small and medium-sized to multinational corporations, Skill Development Centers, Polytechnics and Universities. IME also emphasizes greatly on CAD/CAM/CAE skill training, by establishing its own training centers in Petaling Jaya and branches in Penang, Johor and Melaka. Collaborating with various institutions and universities in the country, IME has trained thousands of users on Advanced Manufacturing Technology, so as to contribute towards the high demand of today's Manufacturing Industries for skilled personnel. IME continued to undergo rapid expansion venturing into Reverse Engineering and Rapid Prototyping to provide one-stop solutions and services to our valuable clients.
